Katya Schwieterman earned her second career All-Conference at last weekend’s Northwest Conference Track and Field Championship Meet. The senior ran a PR time of 11:38.01 in the 3,000M Steeplechase in the final race on Friday. Schwieterman, who spent the fall studying abroad, sat in eighth place out of 13 runners at the mid-point of the race. In the final 1,200 meters, she moved from eighth to sixth and then to fifth. With 400M to go, Schwieterman turned in the fastest lap of any competitor as she posted a final split of 1:24.45 and moved into to third to medal and earn All-NWC. She now ranks fifth in program history in the 3K Steeplechase and broke her previous PR (11:45.60), which she set in the 2022 NWC Championship Meet, by over seven seconds.
