Max Aldrich was the lone Pioneer to travel to the University of Washington Invitational on Friday. He was the only Division III runner in a field of Division I and II student-athletes in the 5K indoor race. It was Aldrich’s first time running the event indoors, and he crushed the program record. His time of 14:48.92 broke the former program record set by George Karamitsos last season by 18.29 seconds. Aldrich now holds the record for the fastest time in a cross country 8K race (24:16.2) and the record for the indoor 5K. He placed 14th in his heat and 16th overall, placing ahead of nine racers, including student-athletes from Portland State and Utah State. Aldrich currently sits 26th in DIII in the event and is first among all runners in the West Region.
