On Friday at the John Knight Twilight Meet, Jonathan Fritz had the top showing among the Pioneers’ field athletes. He placed fifth in the javelin throw with a PR heave of 49.02m (160-10 feet), putting him in 43rd place in program history for the event. Fritz then placed 15th in the discus throw with a toss of 29.48m (96-08 feet). The freshman competed in the NWC Championship Multis decathlon on Monday and Tuesday. After half of the events were completed on Monday, Fritz was 2nd out of 12 competitors with 3,146 points. He tied his career-best time in the 100m (11.27) and set his new PR time, 53.86, in the 400m, shaving off 0.88 seconds. Fritz finished the decathlon on Tuesday with a new PR of 5,777 points. He posted a new PR time in the 1500m during the decathlon with a time of 5:16.40.  Â
