The Pioneer swim teams kicked off the 2007-08 season with a win
for both the men and the women in a dual meet this morning against
the Yotes of the College of Idaho.
The LC women took control of their events early on and would
continue to hold that control throughout the meet. They won 10 out
of their 11 events to post a score of 148 over College of Idaho's
54. The Pioneer women swept the top three spots in both the 100
freestyle and 100 backstroke.
The LC men won 6 of their 11 events, which was enough for
a win of 92 points over College of Idaho's 70. Both Justin Lawton
and Owen Kenton won had two event wins for the Pioneers--Lawton
took the 50 and 100 freestyle, Kenton won the 100 butterfly and 200
freestyle.
This morning's meet was particularly special as it marks
not only Chris Fantz's first win with the Pioneer, but his first
ever head coaching win in his career.
The Pioneers next compete in Walla Walla, Washington on October
26th and 27th as Whitman hosts the Northwest Conference Sprints and
Relays.
