McMINNVILLE, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark volleyball team earned its second Northwest Conference victory on Saturday night, as the Pioneers defeated the Linfield Wildcats in three straight sets. The Pioneers earned a strong 25-16 win in the opening set before taking the final two sets 25-23 and 26-24.
The win improves the Pioneers to 3-7 on the season and 2-2 in NWC play. The Wildcats slip to 4-7 overall and are still in search of their first conference win as they fall to 0-4.
The Pioneer offense received stellar performances from juniors Brigitte Russo and Kataleya Milan. Russo ended the night with a match-high 14 kills for a .324 attacking percentage. Milan concluded the evening with 13 kills and a .414 attacking percentage, finishing 13 of her 29 attempts. Isabel Valentine was a force at the net, leading all players with six blocks (four assisted / two solo), while Russo knocked down three. Senior Kelsie Dorpat managed the offense, earning a match-high 34 assists, while freshman Alexe Navarro collected a team-high 15 digs. Dropat and Milan each earned 12 digs for the Pioneers, while Vanessa Hall collected 10.
Kailana Ritte-Camara led the Wildcats with 13 kills, while Casie Gaza earned 19 assists.
The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. against Willamette in Salem.
