MCMINNVILLE, Ore. —Lewis & Clark College women's basketball shot 50% from three-point range and trimmed a double-digit deficit to nine in the third quarter after Linfield University put up a strong showing right before halftime, but it wasn't enough as the Wildcats held on for the 65-52 Northwest Conference Friday night win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sophomore Lauryn Frederickson led all Pioneers with 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, while adding eight rebounds. Fellow sophomore Madilyn Palosi contributed 11 points, including two three-pointers and perfect 3-for-3 free throw shooting.
Isabella Bernard provided a spark off the bench with seven points, including a three-pointer late in the game. The sophomore transfer pulled down three rebounds.
Junior Tatiana Rebanal and sophomore Divinity Singleton added five points each. Rebanal led the team with three assists. Singleton had three boards and joined Frederickson with blocking a Wildcat.
First-year Kaitlen Carns chipped in four points and two steals, while sophomore DJ Kendrick added six rebounds and three points before fouling out.
The teams traded leads early in the first quarter, with Lewis & Clark taking a 15-10 advantage after a strong shooting start. Linfield responded with a 9-0 run to close the period, taking a 19-15 lead into the second quarter.
The Wildcats extended their advantage in the second behind Gillyan Landis' eight points off 6-of-8 shooting from the free throw line and five rebounds in the quarter. Linfield outscored the Pioneers 20-13 in the quarter to build a 39-28 halftime lead.
Lewis & Clark outscored Linfield 12-10 in third with Rebanal, Palosi, Frederickson and Bernard all scoring in the quarter. The Pioneers forced the most Wildcat turnovers (five) in third quarter and kept their opponent off the foul line the entire ten minutes.
Despite Linfield taking their largest lead of the game in the final quarter, 64-42, Lewis & Clark used an 11-1 run over the final three minutes to cut the deficit to 13. Â
The Pioneers shot well from distance, connecting on 7-of-14 three-point attempts (50%), but Linfield's advantage at the free throw line (17-25 compared to Lewis & Clark's 7-8) proved pivotal in the final margin.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Lewis & Clark's 50% three-point shooting (7-14) is the team's best outing of the season and their best since going 10-16 (62.5%) at Whitworth last season.
- Bernard has gone 7-of-13 (53.8%) from the floor for 18 total points in the last two games.
- Singleton and Frederickson are tied for 10th in the NWC with nine blocked shots each after tonight's game.
- Palosi's 35 made three pointers this season is tied for the most in the NWC this season.Â
