NEW ORLEANS, La.—Lewis & Clark College women's cross country senior
Malia Heien earned her 10
thcareer All-Region award in November at the NCAA DIII West Region Championship Meet.
Heien finished 11
th out of 162 runners at the Regional Championship Meet to punch a ticket to Cross Country Nationals for the third-straight season. She crossed the finish line in 22:28.2 to finish second among Northwest Conference student-athletes. The senior competed at NCAA DIII Cross Country Nationals the following week and placed 129
th overall with a time of 23:01.7.
Heien finishes her collegiate cross country career as a four-time All-Region honoree. She finished 28
th at Regionals as a first year, eighth as a sophomore, 17
th as a junior and 11
th as a senior. The Denver, Colorado native has earned 10 total All-Region accolades thus far in her career. She has been recognized for her efforts in the 800M in track & field four times (twice each in Indoors and Outdoors). Heien also earned All-Region honors as a sophomore in the Distance Medley Relay (Indoors) and Heptathlon (Outdoors).
Heien and Lewis & Clark track & field will open their season on Sunday, January 25 at the Portland Indoor #1 Meet.
