Madelyn Sanchez combined for 15 points on Senior Day and Lewis & Clark College women's basketball stuck with Willamette University for the first 25 minutes on Saturday afternoon at Pamplin Gymnasium.Ā

Rebanal and Sanchez were honored before the contest and combined to hit four 3-pointers in their final collegiate contest. Sanchez finished with the second-most points in a game of her senior season with nine points on 3-7 shooting from deep. She tacked on a season-high six rebounds and an assist. Rebanal added six points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal.Ā

Sophomore
Kaitlen Carns paced the River Otters with 21 points on 6-10 shooting. She added six rebounds, a team-high three assists and finished 8-9 from the free throw line.Ā

Ali McCauley joined Carns in double-figures. She notched 12 points on 5-12 shooting and added four rebounds and two assists.Ā

Willamette used a 10-2 run to grab a 15-7 lead with 3:45 to play in the first quarter. McCauley responded with a triple to stem the momentum and Jordan and Rebanal each hit a free throw to bring Lewis & Clark within six (18-12) after one.Ā

Lewis & Clark grabbed their first lead of the game 4:17 into the second quarter. The River Otters outscored the visitors 12-3 to start the stanza. Carns knocked down two free throws and then canned a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 18-17. After a Bearcats three, McCauley hit a layup and a jumper to even the score at 21. The first year then drained a 3-pointer to cap off her own personal 7-0 run and give Lewis & Clark a 24-21 edge.Ā

Lewis & Clark would stretch their lead to as many as five on two occasions. Singleton and Carns hit back-to-back baskets to make it 28-23 and Carns hit a layup to push the lead to 30-25.Ā

Willamette would tie the game at 30 with 1:01 to go in the quarter and knocked down two free throws right before the break to grab a 32-30 lead at the half.Ā

The visitors stretched their advantage to seven early in the third quarter (43-36) before first year
Ky Roussin drained a 3-pointer. Willamette would go on a 19-7 run over the next five-plus minutes to push their lead to 16 (62-46). Sanchez closed out the quarter on a high note for Lewis & Clark. The senior received a pass from McCauley at half court and drained a buzzer-beating three to cut the deficit to 62-49.Ā

The Bearcats outscored Lewis & Clark 24-18 in the fourth quarter to extend their final margin to 86-67.Ā

BY THE NUMBERSĀ
- Lewis & Clark finished with a 15-3 edge in points off turnovers. The River Otters forced 12 turnovers and committed just five on the offensive end.Ā
- Carns closes out her sophomore season with 18 double-digit point performances and three games with 20 or more points (two in the final three contests). She tied junior Lauryn Frederickson for the team-lead with 13.0 points per game.Ā
- The River Otters made 10 3-pointers against Willamette. Their 10 threes are their second-most made 3-pointers in a single-game this season and their 38.5 3-point field goal percentage was their third-best mark of the year.Ā
- Sanchez made her first start of the season on Saturday.
