Woodburn, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College defeated Pacific University 7.5-2.5 on both the men's and women's side to win their first-ever Pines Cup over the weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams took big leads after Day One and cruised on Day Two in the second annual Pines Cup. A year after suffering a narrow 17.5 to 12.5 lead, Lewis & Clark dominated the Boxers in the match-play tournament.
MEN'S RECAP
Eight River Otters claimed wins and four players went 2-0, to lead Lewis & Clark past the Boxers for a second-straight year.
Sophomores
Joonho Moon and
Tanner Moody led Lewis & Clark across the two rounds. Moon shot a team-best 141 (-3) with rounds of 69 (-3) and 72 (Even). Moody opened the weekend with a 72 (Even) and was the only River Otter to go under par on Sunday with a 70 (-2). He posted a 142 (-2). The duo each posted a pair of wins.
Sophomore
Mason Hill and junior
Kenji Pickeral also went 2-0. Hill shot a 70 (-2) on Saturday and finished with a 150 (+6). Pickeral posted a 79 (+7) on Day One but came back with a 72 (Even) on Sunday to finish at 151 (+7).
Sophomore
Charlie Hageman was the final River Otter to go unbeaten. Hageman earned one win and one tie. He came from behind on Saturday to post a tie with a score of 76 (Even). On Sunday, he shot a 75 (+3) to finish with a 151 (+7).
WOMEN'S RECAP
Five players earned wins and three players went 2-0, to help Lewis & Clark avenge an 11.5 to 0.5 loss in last year's season opener.
Sophomores
Ahika Jani and
Evie Denton and first year
Kimber Yoder all went 2-0 against Pacific.
Jani led Lewis & Clark with a two-day score of 155 (+11). She posted a score of 83 (+11) on Saturday but shaved off 11 strokes on Sunday to post a team-best round of 72 (Even).
Denton finished second on the team. She notched an 80 (+8) on Day One and then recorded an 81 (+9) on Sunday. Denton carded a 161 (+17) across the two days.
Yoder posted the fourth-best score on Lewis & Clark. The first year posted an 85 (+13) on Saturday and an 83 (+11) on Sunday. She finished the weekend with a 168 (+24).
First year
Darwyn Kormany and sophomore
Lydia Schwenker each went unbeaten (one win and one tie). Kormany edged Yoder to place third on the team. The first year notched scores of 84 (+12) and 83 (+11) to finish with a 167 (+23). Schwenker showed massive improvement from Day One to Day Two. She notched a 100 (+28) on Saturday but posted an 88 (+16) on Sunday to finish with a 188 (+44).
BY THE NUMBERS
- Junior Luke Blankinship finished third on the men's team. He shot a 69 (-3) on Saturday and finished the weekend with a score of 145 (+1).
- Moon tied the lowest-round of his collegiate career (70) and shot the lowest tournament score (142) of his career.
- Sophomore Natalie Nuñez Lezama posted a tie for the women's team.
- Blankinship and first years Nate Loew and Trae Fredrickson all earned wins for the men's team.
- Schwenker's round of 88 (+16) on Sunday was the best round of her collegiate career.
- Gless tied his lowest collegiate-round (74) on Saturday and posted the best tournament score (151) of his career over the weekend.
- Moody shot the lowest round of his score (70) and the best tournament score (142) of his career.
