GREENWOOD, Ind.—Five Lewis & Clark College softball seniors were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Softball Academic All-District Team, the CSC announced on Tuesday morning.Â

McKenna Zehnder were all recognized for at least the second time in their careers. The quintet all represented Lewis & Clark on the Academic All-District Team in 2024 and Patton, Pope and Scroggins earned spots in 2025 as well.Â

To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District honor, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and must reach certain athletic marks. Position players had to play in at least 90 percent of their team's games or start at least 66% of the team's games. Pitchers had to appear in at least 17 times or throw a minimum of 35 innings. Programs could be represented by a maximum of five student-athletes. Each program is capped at having five players nominated and honored.Â

O'Leary is a Political Science major, with a minor in English, hailing from Kennewick, Washington. The River Otters senior ace picked up her second career Academic All-District honors after putting together her third-straight standout season. O'Leary was named to the NWC First Team, after leading Lewis & Clark in every major pitching category. She paced the team with an 18-9 record, 2.71 ERA, 149.2 innings, career-high 122 strikeouts, career-high five shutouts and a .259 opposing batting average. The senior pitched in 30 of the team's 43 contests and made 22 starts in the circle. She earned five wins against NCAA Tournament teams - including posting wins over #3 Linfield University and #22 Emory. O'Leary closed out the regular season with wins in her final five appearances and three shutouts in her final four NWC starts.Â
Patton joins Pope and Scroggins as the only three-time Academic All-District honorees in program history. She is a Psychology major hailing from Peoria, Arizona and a four-year starter at second base (one year) and shortstop (final three years). Patton earned All-Region Third Team honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and First Team All-Conference accolades for a second-straight year. The three-time All-Conference honoree finished the season tied for first on the team with 27 runs scored and added 45 hits, 20 RBI and five stolen bases. She placed first on the team with 82 assists and notched a .961 fielding percentage on 155 total chances. Patton put together her best game of the season on April 3 in game two against Puget Sound. The senior shortstop went 4-5 with a run scored and three RBI and recorded the walk-off, RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to cap off an 8-7 comeback win.Â

Pope is a Rhetoric and Media Studies major, with a minor in English, hailing from El Cerrito, California. The three-time Academic All-District honoree put together the second-best season of her career during her senior campaign. She posted a 4-6 record with a 3.07 ERA in 54.2 innings pitched and added 30 strikeouts and one shutout. Pope finished the year second on the team in every major pitching category and posted a 3-2 record with a 3.03 ERA in Northwest Conference action. In early March, Pope held #22 Emory University and fellow NCAA Tournament Teams Pfeiffer University and the College of St. Benedict to two unearned runs across 11 innings (four total outings). She capped off her career by posting a five-inning shutout against Pacific University on Senior Day in a 9-0 Lewis & Clark victory.Â

Scroggins is a Biology major, with a minor in Hispanic Studies, hailing from Antelope, California. The three-time Academic All-District honoree put together a career-year to earn her first career NWC First Team All-Conference honors. Scroggins led the team with her .353 batting average and posted new career-highs in hits (42), walks (14), steals (11), sac bunts (seven) and tied her career-high with 27 runs scored. She earned her second career All-Conference award after hitting near the top of the lineup in almost every contest and starting all 43 games for the River Otters. Scroggins notched back-to-back, walk-off singles in the bottom of the seventh inning to sweep the College of St. Benedict (1-0 and 2-1) on March 18. She added back-to-back with three hits in four at-bats and chipped in two runs scored and an RBI against NWC Regular Season Champion Pacific Lutheran University on March 25 and 26.Â

Zehnder is a Psychology major, with a minor in Health Studies, hailing from Huntington Beach, California. She picks up her second career Academic All-Districts honors after playing in a career-high 43 games and making 42 starts during her senior season. The catcher/third baseman posted 22 hits, 11 runs scored, 11 RBI and three home runs during her final season on Palatine Hill. Zehnder led the team with 10 sacrifice bunts and finished second with nine hit by pitches. She finished second on the team with 60 assists, threw out two baserunners in six attempts behind the plate and posted a .965 fielding percentage. In her final Northwest Conference Tournament, Zehnder finished 4-9 with two doubles and two home runs, three runs scored and two RBI across three games. Â
