WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Women's soccer team's
conference woes continued Sunday as they fell 2-0 to the Whitman
Missionaries (5-6, 3-5 NWC) at the Missionaries' home field.
Whitman goalkeeper Lauren Brougham had her first shutout of the
season as the Pioneers (2-8-2, 0-8 NWC) could not find the
back of the net.
The Pioneers had some good chances in the last part of the first
half as they took four shots all of which were saved by Broughman.
Freshman midfielder Hallie Swan put the Missionaries up 1-0 as she
scored her first collegiate goal from 25 yard out on a drop pass
from McKenzie Hughes.
After the half Whitman put more pressure on the Pioneers
outshooting Lewis & Clark and scoring a second goal. With 78:08
on the clock Swan possessed a loose ball and sent a cross to junior
Amy Hasson who scored in the left side of the goal.
Whitman was led by Hasson who had a game high five shots on
goal. Marisa Poorboy took three shots and Roehner added two. For
the Pioneers, Katrina Weisbecker took three shots while Katie
Browning, Natalie Levy and Austyn Byassee took two shot.
Lewis & Clark was outshot 16-12 and 9-6 in shots on goal.
Brougham made six saves for Whitman for her first shutout of the
season. Pioneer goalkeeper Elise Delgado had seven saves on the day
while playing the whole game.
Lewis & Clark's next game is on Saturday Oct. 16th as
they host Linfield at noon.
