PORTLAND, Ore. – Lewis & Clark College volleyball fell to league-leading Pacific Lutheran University 25-12, 25-13, 25-14 in a Northwest Conference match Saturday night at Pamplin Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior
HB Schuett and first-year
Lexi Musselwhite led the River Otters with six kills apiece. Schuett hit .231 and added an ace, a block assist and two digs. Musselwhite hit .364 and added a block assist.
Senior
Ruby Kuerschner recorded 10 assists and tied sophomore libero
Coco Otto for the team lead with five digs. Senior
Abbi Sanchez added six assists. Seniors
Isabel Meleán-Williams and
Kaitlyn Jensen finished with three kills each, and Meleán-Williams added four digs.
Meleán-Williams opened the first set with a kill. Pacific Lutheran scored the next five points and later led 15-5. A kill by first-year
Skyler Staab and an ace by senior
Ainsley Mochrie cut the deficit to 15-7. Trailing 21-9, Lewis & Clark scored three consecutive points on kills by junior
Morgan Armitage and Jensen and a Pacific Lutheran attack error. The Lutes scored the final four points to win the set.
The second set featured six ties and three lead changes. Jensen tied the score at 4-4 with a kill, and Schuett added two kills to give Lewis & Clark leads of 5-4 and 6-5. Pacific Lutheran scored seven consecutive points to take a 12-6 lead. Kuerschner and Musselwhite recorded kills as the River Otters scored three straight points to cut the deficit to 12-9. The Lutes scored the next six points and won the set 25-13.
Lewis & Clark led 4-2 early in the third set after two kills by Schuett. Musselwhite and Staab combined for a block to put the River Otters ahead 7-6. Pacific Lutheran scored the next four points and later extended its lead to 20-9. Jensen and Schuett combined for Lewis & Clark's second block. Schuett then recorded a kill and an ace as the River Otters scored three consecutive points to cut the deficit to 22-14. The Lutes scored the final three points to finish the match.
Je T'aime Paio led Pacific Lutheran with nine kills. Alexis Eggert added six kills and two block assists, and Ayre Takamoto recorded 28 assists.
