HILLSBORO, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College women's golf sophomore
Ahika Jani took home her fourth career Northwest Conference Women's Golf Student-Athlete of the Week award, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Jani earned the award after winning her third career tournament over the weekend in Salem.
The sophomore bested the field of 53 players at the Willamette Valley Cup with a 36-hole score of 147 (+5). She finished Day One in a three-way tie for second place with a score of 75 (+4). On Sunday, she posted the lowest round in the field with a 72 (+1), to finish two strokes ahead of George Fox University's Ashlyn Johnson (149, +7).
Jani finished in the top-three in the field in par 3s (3.00, Even – t-1
st), par 4s (4.28, +5 – 2
nd) and par 5s (5.00, Even, t-3
rd) and first overall in pars (26) and fewest bogeys (six).
Through her first seven events of the year, Jani has posted a round average of 77.1 (+5). She has won two events, finished top-three in three events and top-ten in four events. The sophomore has finished 12th or better in every tournament she has played in this season.
Lewis & Clark will return to action on April 30, when they travel to Arrowhead Golf Club for the GFU Invitational.
