HILLSBORO, Ore.—Three Lewis & Clark College baseball players earned Northwest Conference All-Conference honors, the league office announced on Thursday afternoon.Â

Michael Aikawa were each recognized for a second-straight season, while sophomore
Will Michelman carved out a spot on the NWC All-Conference Team for the first time.Â

Potter was named to the NWC First Team as a utility player for his efforts as a starting outfielder and the team's closer. After being named to the Honorable Mention Team as a sophomore, the junior center fielder/right fielder put together the best season of his career at the plate and on the mound. Offensively, he led the team in batting average (.396), on-base percentage (.466), slugging percentage (.515), hits (67) and total bases (87). He also finished second on the team in stolen bases (13-15) and in the top-five on the team in runs (34 – 3
rd), RBI (30 – 3
rd), doubles (8 – t-3
rd), home runs (4 – t-3
rd) and walks (15 – 5
th). He tacked on five outfield assists and a .981 fielding percentage in center and right field. On the mound, he finished 2-1 with five saves and a 2.50 ERA in 18 innings pitched. Potter struck out 17 batters and held opponents to a .229 batting average in 18 innings pitched. The California native finished the season tied for first in the conference in hits, 3
rd in batting average, fourth in saves, fifth in OBP, seventh in stolen bases and 14
th in slugging percentage. He also ranks 45
th in NCAA DIII this season in hits. Potter wrapped up the season first in program history for hits in a single-season, 10
th in average and tied for third in saves.Â

The junior finished the season with 22 multiple-hit games, including 10 games with three hits. He added eight multi-RBI contests and reached base in 26-straight games. Potter hit safely in 35 of his 41 starts and notched a hitting streak of 14-straight games from March 8-April 4. He was named the NWC Position Player of the Week on March 23, after going 8-18 with five runs and five RBI to help Lewis & Clark sweep Whitman. Potter finished 3-3 with three RBI on April 11 in a conference win over George Fox and tacked on six hits, three runs and five RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Willamette on April 26. In the NWC Tournament, Potter led the River Otters with three hits and tacked on one run, one RBI and a solo home run against #2 Linfield. On the mound, Potter held opponents scoreless in 10 of his 14 outings and threw at least an inning in 12 appearances. He threw two innings four of his final six outings and recorded saves in conference play against Whitman, the University of Puget Sound and Linfield University.Â

Michelman earned a spot on the NWC Second Team, after setting new career-highs in almost every category as a sophomore. The left fielder started in 34 games and finished in the top-five on the team in almost every statistical category. The California native finished the year second on the team in average (.326), slugging percentage (.504), RBI (34), doubles (nine) and walks (19). He also finished top-five in on-base percentage (.418 – 3
rd), home runs (4 – t-3
rd), hits (42 – 4
th) and runs (24). Michelman wrapped up the season ninth in the NWC in RBI and in the top-20 in average (16
th), slugging percentage (17
th), doubles (17
th) and walks (19
th). He notched 12 multi-hit games and eight multi-RBI games. The left fielder hit safely in 25 contests and posted two hitting streaks of at least six games. He was named the NWC Position Player of the Week on March 9 after racking up eight hits and 10 RBI in a 3-1 series victory over Chapman. Michelman put together his best game of the season on March 29 at Puget Sound, when he went 3-4 with a run scored, five RBI, two doubles and a walk in a 10-4 series-clinching win over the Loggers.Â

Aikawa carved out a spot on the NWC All-Conference Third Team. The junior third baseman set new single-season highs in runs scored (40), RBI (43), home runs (seven) and games play (41) to earn his second-straight All-Conference accolades. He led the team in RBI, home runs and walks (30) and finished tied for first on the squad in runs. Aikawa also placed in the top-five on the team in hits (53 – 2
nd), total bases (79 – 2
nd), on-base percentage (.431 – 2
nd), average (.325 – 3
rd), stolen bases (10 – 3
rd), doubles (8 – t-3
rd) and slugging percentage (.485 – 4
th). In the field, Aikawa racked up 92 assists to finish third on the team. He sits tied for first in the NWC in walks, tied for second in runs, fourth in RBI, seventh in hits and eighth in homers. Aikawa led the team with 12 multiple-RBI games and added 17 multi-hit games. He hit safely in 31 games and posted two hitting streaks of eight games or more. The California native went on an absolute tear over a three-game span from February 28 to March 7. Aikawa finished the stretch 8-16 with nine runs, 10 RBI, two doubles, two home runs and three stolen bases as part of a four-game winning streak for Lewis & Clark. In the NWC Tournament, he went 2-5 with two runs scored, three RBI and a homer against #2 Linfield. Aikawa enters his seniors tied for 12
th in program history in career RBI (98), 13
th in walks (70), 14
th in stolen bases (23) and tied for 14
th in doubles (29).Â
