Joan Grants joins the Lewis & Clark track & field coaching staff in the Fall of 2025.
Lewis & Clark put together a strong season during Grant's first campaign. Seventeen student-athletes earned All-Conference honors at the Northwest Conference Championship Meet and 13 River Otters were named to the All-Region Team. At the Northwest Conference Championship Meet, Malia Heien (800M and 1,500M), Evan Markelz (5,000M) and Keegan Zaso (triple jump) combined to win four NWC Championships. Men's track & field placed fourth overall to record their highest finish at the NWC Championship since 1992 and scored their most points (91) since the 1988 NWC Championship.
Grant comes to Lewis & Clark after a successful collegiate career at NCAA DI University of Wyoming. She primarily competed in the long jump, high jump and short sprints. Grant earned a spot at the Mountain West Conference Championship Meet in the long jump in five of her seasons (indoor and outdoors) and earned a career-best 13th-place finish at the 2023 MWC Indoor Meet. As a senior, she jumped a career-long 19-05.25 feet (5.92M) in the long jump at the Mines Kit Meyer Classic.
