Keegan Matsukado joined the women’s lacrosse staff as an assistant coach following the 2026 season and will help prepare the program for the 2027 season.
Matsukado most recently served as head men's lacrosse coach at Multnomah University from 2020 to 2023, where he was hired to launch the university's first varsity men's lacrosse program. He oversaw all aspects of program operations, including recruiting, budgeting, scheduling, fundraising, travel and player development. Matsukado exceeded recruiting goals by 200 percent during his first academic year and led the inaugural roster to six wins. His offense averaged 16 goals per game and ranked among the top units in the region. He also expanded the program's visibility through social media and community engagement.
Before Multnomah, Matsukado served three seasons as head men's lacrosse coach at the University of Portland from 2017 to 2020, directing all phases of the MCLA program. He led the Pilots to back-to-back conference playoff appearances and one semifinal appearance while managing practice planning, game preparation, travel coordination, recruiting, fundraising and alumni relations. He implemented strength and conditioning standards and player leadership development initiatives.
Matsukado originally joined the Portland staff as an assistant coach in 2017, working with practice planning, recruiting coordination, defensive systems and travel operations. He earned a promotion to head coach after his first season.
Matsukado holds a master's degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University-Irvine (2013) and a bachelor's degree in general psychology from Portland State University (2010).
