HOW IT HAPPENED
Ā
Lewis & Clark took a 1-0 lead into halftime against the two-time defending NWC Champions. Pacific Lutheran responded with a quick goal to tie it and added two goals in the final 25 minutes to keep their repeat hopes alive.Ā
Ā
Schwartz broke a tie with junior Dylan Weinstein and Nadav Dicovski ('23) for the most goals scored by a men's soccer player since the team returned to varsity status in 2022. He headed home an Aashir Walson cross in the 26thĀ minute to score his second goal in as many games and his fifth collegiate tally.Ā
Ā
Junior goalie Micaiah Garan made nine saves on 12 shots. The junior went over 175 saves for his career on Saturday and is now sitting on 178 stops in 35 career games.Ā
Ā
Pacific Lutheran had their first great chance to score of the game. The Lutes drew a foul in the box at 15:47. Connor O'Brien stepped up to the spot but dragged his shot wide of the far post to keep the score 0-0.Ā
Ā
Lewis & Clark capitalized and posted three shots in the next five minutes. The Pioneers broke the deadlock at 25:36. Walson floated a cross from the edge of the box to the back post and Schwartz rose up and headed the ball back across goal for a 1-0 lead.Ā
Ā
The visitors would rack up eight shots on target in the half but Garan stood tall. He made several diving stops and commanded his box to keep the score 1-0.Ā

Pacific Lutheran tied the game at 49:46. Connor O'Brien lined a pass to Ty Brunner who headed it home to tie the game at 1-1.Ā
