Loggers Pull Away Early from Women's Basketball

TACOMA, Wash. — Lewis & Clark College women's basketball fell 79-44 to the University of Puget Sound, which made its first four shots of the game and never let up Friday night at Memorial Fieldhouse.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sophomore Lauryn Frederickson led the Pioneers with 11 points and eight rebounds, while fellow sophomore Isabella Bernard added eight points. First-year Kaitlen Carns, sophomore Madilyn Palosi and junior Madelyn Sanchez chipped in six points each, with Palosi contributing four rebounds and three steals.

Junior Tatiana Rebanal (five points) and sophomore Divinity Singleton (two points) rounded out the scoring for Lewis & Clark. Singleton grabbed eight rebounds to match Frederickson for the team lead.

Puget Sound took control early, building a 27-9 advantage after the first quarter behind three 3-pointers from Addison Reardon. The Loggers extended their lead to 51-23 at halftime after shooting 63% in the first half.

Both teams played strong defense in the third quarter, with Puget Sound holding a slight 13-9 edge. The Pioneers limited the Loggers to 29.4% shooting (5-of-17) in the period.

Puget Sound's balanced scoring attack proved too much to overcome. Reardon led all scorers with 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting from three-point range. Claire Thompson added 14 points, and Carmen Cruz contributed 12 for the Loggers.
