PORTLAND, Ore. – Lewis & Clark College volleyball fell to the University of Puget Sound 25-7, 25-13, 25-16 in a Northwest Conference match Friday night at Pamplin Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior
Isabel Meleán-Williams led the River Otters with four kills. Junior
Morgan Armitage and senior
HB Schuett each added three kills. First-year
Skyler Staab finished with two kills on three attempts without an error and combined with Armitage for a block.
Senior
Ruby Kuerschner recorded seven assists and served the River Otters' only ace. Fellow senior
Abbi Sanchez added six assists and three digs. Sophomore libero
Coco Otto recorded a team-high seven digs and added three assists.
A kill by first-year
Lexi Musselwhite cut the Loggers' lead to 9-5 in the first set. Puget Sound then scored eight straight points. A kill by sophomore
Ariah Potts made it 17-6 before the Loggers scored eight of the final nine points to win the set.
Armitage opened the second set with a kill before Puget Sound scored five straight points. Meleán-Williams recorded two kills, and Armitage added another as Lewis & Clark closed within 9-6. Puget Sound extended its lead to 16-8. Staab and senior
Kaitlyn Jensen added kills before Kuerschner served an ace late in the set.
The third set included eight ties and four lead changes. Lewis & Clark scored three straight points on a Puget Sound service error and two attack errors to take an 8-7 lead. The River Otters went ahead 10-8 on two more Puget Sound attack errors.
Puget Sound then scored seven straight points to lead 15-10, including six with Nicolette Raduziner serving. Raduziner recorded two aces during that stretch. Schuett's kill made it 15-11, and three Puget Sound attack errors helped Lewis & Clark close within 17-14. Jensen's kill and another Puget Sound error cut the deficit to 18-16, but the Loggers scored the final seven points.
Aubrey Tanner led the Loggers with 10 kills. Raduziner added eight kills and four aces. Puget Sound hit .303 and recorded six team blocks.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Lewis & Clark held Puget Sound to .031 hitting in the third set after the Loggers hit .500 in each of the first two sets.
- Potts recorded her first career kill and added three digs.
