PORTLAND, Ore. -- Lewis & Clark College women's tennis defeated Linfield University 7-0 in Northwest Conference action on Sunday at the L&C Tennis Dome.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lewis & Clark controlled the match throughout, winning all nine courts and conceding 26 total games. Juniors

Emma Loucks, sophomore
Madi Vianzon, and first-year
Alex Mignogna all finished 2-0 on the day.
The River Otters opened with three doubles wins. Loucks and Vianzon posted the first result with a 6-1 win over Gianna Molony and Steffanie Stark at No. 3 doubles. Senior
Susanna Anand and Makoni followed with a 6-2 win over Sam Baltz and Kaitlynn Canubida at No. 1. Curry and Mignogna completed the doubles sweep with a 6-1 win over Lyla Khlee and Sundi King at No. 2.
Lewis & Clark won all six singles matches in straight sets. Makoni defeated Canubida 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 in the closest singles match of the afternoon. Sophomore
Anna English led 2-2 against Baltz at No. 2 when Baltz retired after four games. Curry posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over Emily Redwood at No. 3.
Mignogna won 6-3, 6-1 over King at No. 4. Vianzon defeated Molony 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5, and Loucks closed the afternoon with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Khlee at No. 6 to complete the 7-0 victory.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Lewis & Clark extended its winning streak over Linfield to four matches, the longest since winning four straight from 2014-16.
- Makoni improved to 2-0 at No. 1 singles this season.
- The River Otters are off to their best start in Northwest Conference play since opening 6-1 through seven matches in 2018.
