Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. - Freshman Lauren Wood netted a team-high 12 points in the Lewis & Clark women's basketball teams 69-52 loss to Corban on Wednesday night in the Pamplin Sports Center.
The freshman forward was 4-of-6 from the floor and the free-throw line for the Pioneers. Defensively Wood pulled down five rebounds, while picking up two steals and an assist. Miyah Leith came off the bench to score 10 points for the Pioneers, while Sarah Anderson finished the night with nine points.
Senior Casey Zinn finished with a game-high nine boards, while collecting seven points and two blocks. Sophomore Ayisat Afolabi scored six points for the Pioneers, while earning seven rebounds and four steals.
Julia Young ended the night with a game-high 24 points in the Warrior victory, while teammate Tara Van Weerdhuizen finished with a team-high eight rebounds.
Lewis & Clark took the lead early on an Anderson three-pointer just 30 second into the match, before taking a 7-2 lead over the next seven minutes. The Warriors made a comeback moments later with the help of five points from Young and a jumper from Hayley Holboke for a 10-7 advantage. Corban never trail again. The Warriors pushed the pace throughout the remainder of the half, taking a 32-21 lead into the locker room.
The Pioneers cut the Warrior lead to six points over the opening five minutes of the second half with points from Afolabi, Anderson, Wood and Zinn. It would not take long for Corban to once again take and this time hold onto a double-digit lead.
The Pioneers hit the road for their next contest, traveling to Warner Pacific on Tuesday, Nov. 25 or a 7 p.m. game.
