PORTLAND, Ore. – Lewis & Clark College women's tennis sophomore
Madi Vianzon earned her first career Northwest Conference Women's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week honor, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Vianzon went 4-0 across two matches over the weekend to become the second Lewis & Clark women's tennis player to earn NWC Student-Athlete of the Week honors this season. The last time multiple Lewis & Clark women received the award in the same season was 2016, when Christine Eliazo, Aurora Garrison and Summer Garrison were honored.
Against Pacific, Vianzon went 2-0 to help the River Otters snap a three-match losing streak to the Boxers. She and junior
Charlotte Makoni earned Lewis & Clark's lone doubles win with a 6-4 victory over Brooke Curtis and Mia Yamaguchi at No. 3. Vianzon later clinched the team victory with a 6-0, 7-5 win over Morgan Wagoner at No. 6 singles.
Vianzon added two more wins in Sunday's match against Linfield. She teamed with junior
Emma Loucks for a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles over Gianna Molony and Steffanie Stark. In singles play, Vianzon faced Molony again and earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles as the River Otters posted a 7-0 win over the Wildcats.
Vianzon is now 8-3 overall in singles, including a 3-1 mark in NWC dual matches. She holds a 5-5 overall doubles record, with a 4-2 mark in duals and a 3-0 record in conference play.
Lewis & Clark returns to action Saturday at George Fox University. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
